Aarhus Sommeropera together with Egnsteatret Undergrunden presented a new production of Mozart's opera DON GIOVANNI - an extraordinary work, which has aroused great enthusiasm and provoked audiences throughout the ages.

DON GIOVANNI is built around the legend of an unscrupulous womaniser, whose only desire in life is to conquer the hearts of as many women as possible. Add to this the music of Mozart and you have one of the greatest theatrical masterpieces of all time.

Mozart's operas have been the cornerstone of Aarhus Sommeropera's repertoire through the years. A tradition for Mozart was established with the company's first production in 1988, Cosi fan Tutte, which has since led to critically acclaimed productions of Don Giovanni in 1989 and 1990, La Clemenza di Tito in 1998, Cosi fan Tutte in 2012, and Le Nozze di Figaro in 1999 an again in 2010. This culminated with two of the company's most successful productions to date - Cosi fan Tutte in 2000 and 2002 (winner of the prestigious Reumert award for “Best Opera” in 2001) and Die Entfürung aus dem Serail in 2003 and 2005 (nominated for a Reumert award in 2004).
